India Solar Energy Map

How many solar projects are in India?

India had numerous solar farms across the country. India has been actively promoting solar energy through various initiatives and policies, such as the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) and the Solar Parks Scheme. These initiatives have encouraged the development of solar farms in different states of the country.

Under the Solar Parks Scheme, the Indian government aims to establish large-scale solar parks dedicated to solar energy generation. These parks provide the necessary infrastructure, land, and grid connectivity to attract solar project developers. Many states in India have embraced this initiative and established solar parks within their jurisdictions.

One large solar farm in India is the Kamuthi Solar Power Project, located in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the largest single-location solar power plants in the world, covering an area of approximately 2,500 acres and having a capacity of 648 MW. There are also several other solar farms across different states in India, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

Additionally, several independent solar farms and solar power plants have been developed by private companies, public utilities, and government agencies across various states in India. These projects contribute to India's renewable energy capacity and help the country in achieving its clean energy targets.
