Elon Musk's 'Battery Day' will be his most important event in years, experts say — and could make Tesla 'more like an Apple or Microsoft than a GM or a Ford'
The event is expected to bring news about long-lasting methods of battery pack and cell manufacturing and chemical improvements that reduce battery pack prices. A significant note about tomorrow's Tesla Battery Day. This affects long-term production, especially Semi, Cybertruck & Roadsters, but it is not until 2022 that what we announce will hit serious high-volume production.
Elon Must said, "Tomorrow will be unveiled an important note about Tesla Battery Day. This affects long-term production, particularly Semi, Cybertruck & Roadster, but what we announce will not hit serious production of high volumes until 2022. We expect to increase, not reduce Panasonic, LG & CATL (possibly other partners) purchases of battery cells. However, even with our cell suppliers going at full speed."
"What we announce will not hit significant high-volume production until 2022, according to Musk," and this will have repercussions for its Semi, Cybertruck, and Roadster. He also went on to say that the company aims to increase purchases of battery cells from partners such as Panasonic and LG, but to suggest that the company will take steps in the future to prevent shortages, a potential hint to get into the manufacture of cells itself. With the Annual Meeting of Stockholders and Battery Day event scheduled to start at 4:30PM ET / 1:30PM PT, we will find out exactly what that means when the presentation takes place tomorrow.
